2022 Kia Carnival vs 2021 Kia Sedona

Serving Morrow, GA

For approximately two decades, the Kia Sedona has been a preferred option for many minivan drivers in the Atlanta area. This same model was called the Carnival in many areas outside of the United States. Going into the 2022 model year, the Kia Sedona has officially been replaced by the Carnival. While these are essentially the same vehicle, the 2022 Carnival is a next-generation vehicle. Before you can buy your next minivan with full confidence, you need to get familiar with the differences between the 2021 Sedona and the 2022 Carnival.

Performance

Both the Sedona and the Carnival have car-like agility and the functionality of the third row of seats in a roomy cabin. The capabilities of the Sedona differ slightly from those of the more powerful Carnival. The Sedona has a V6, 3.3-liter engine that produces 276 horsepower. It can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The Carnival’s V6 engine can deliver 290 horsepower, and it has the same towing capacity as the 2021 Sedona.

Appearance

The 2022 Kia Carnival has exceptional styling from front to rear, and its boxed-off profile and modern dimensions make a clear standout on the road. The Sedona has a traditional minivan look with a short, angled nose, a flat roof, and moderate definition through the sides. The 2022 Carnival, on the other hand, has more definition and less incline through the hood. From the side, it has an SUV-like stance except for the sliding function of the second row. The Carnival also has a chrome-underscored grille with a radiating mesh pattern and integrated LED headlights.

Features

At the higher trim levels, the 2021 Sedona has premium features like leather material, a wireless phone charger, heated front seats, smart sliding doors, Smart Key, and more. Many of these features are found in most or all of the 2022 Carnival’s trim levels. The Carnival also adds a slide-flex system for the rear seats, dual 12-inch display screens, a 360-degree monitor, navigation-based cruise control, wireless smart device app integration, a rear cabin camera, and more.
