Exploring the 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-In Hybrid: Eco-Friendly Power

Design

The 2024 Sportage Hybrid lineup’s futuristic styling includes a panoramic sunroof with power sunshade and smart power liftgate. The spacious cabin has more legroom in the back row than previous models, even with a full 40 cubic feet of cargo area behind the folding and reclining seats. Additional storage is found in the dual-level cargo floor, where contents can be protected from prying eyes with a sturdy cover.

Best of all, Kia configured this model to provide a comfy ride even on long road trips. Standard features in the lower X-Line trim include heated front seats and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar adjustments. There is also a dual-zone climate control system with rear AC vents and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Performance

Both models have a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine and full parallel hybrid system. The electric motor has 89 hp and 224 lb-ft of torque, while the engine provides 177 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Together, they deliver 261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

There is a 6-speed automatic transmission and four drive modes from which to choose: Normal, Smart, and Snow. The hybrid is all-wheel drive with a 34-mile all-electric range, remote start, and a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds with trailer brakes or 1,653 pounds without.

Technology

The 2024 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid has a 6-speaker audio system, including SiriusXM satellite radio. The infotainment system features a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity for multiple mobile devices. There is a USB media port, USB-C charging port, and wireless phone charger in front, plus two USB-C charging ports in the second row. An 8-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Surround Sound System with HALOsonic is standard on the X-Line Prestige trim.
